With Runoff coming into full swing, it is important to keep an eye on flow charts before visiting rivers. The Arkansas has been on a steady upswing in flows, giving some color to the water. However, it is also fishing quite well in the morning and mid afternoon. Water temperatures are around 46-50 degrees at the moment. We have seen midge hatches, Baetis and even some caddis on warmer days. As runoff tapers the bug action will only increase. We had success on some flashier patterns with the color of water the way it was. Patterns we found success on were: Mercury Cased Caddis Size 16, Duracell Bomb Size 16, and Mercury Baetis size 18.
