Toasty day on the Eagle over near Gypsum! Fishing was solid right out the gate and stayed consistent throughout the morning and into the early afternoon hours. Flows are still high on the Eagle so make sure to use enough weight to get those bugs down in the zone quickly. Baetis and Stones in the deeper, slower water were the ticket early morning. Late morning and early afternoon air temps got quite hot, pushing fish up into the faster riffles. Fish were taken on a Guide's Choice Hare's Ear as well as various PMD emergers. We took a late lunch and got back on the river for a few hours during the peak of the day's heat. Fishing was noticeably slower during the afternoon. We still found a few but they definitely made us work for them. Fish were taken in the afternoon on a Jiggy Frenchie. Fishing can be great in windows but it can also turn off for periods of time. Get up and get after 'em before it gets too hot!
