The Blue is another river that has experience many varying conditions in the last week. I was hesitant on the drop from 400 CFS to 105 CFS, though I could not have been more surprised by the excellent fishing we experienced Wednesday Morning. With such a significant change in flows, it is not uncommon for fishing to slow down for a day or two while fish adjust to their new water conditions. That was not the case Wednesday. We saw eats on everything from small Baetis patterns - Grey RS2 #20, Rainbow Warrior #18, and yellow egg patterns all got attention from the fish, along with one pattern that surprised me - The Royal Chubby in a size #12 - we got two clean eats and two very nice fish to the net on hoppers. The Blue is fishing very well from what I have gathered recently. Stay after it and don't hesitate to change up your approach every now and then, you never know what they'll be looking at each day, try everything!
