Great fishing on the upper Colorado. Lots of bug activity throughout the day, midges, blue wing olives, pmd’s, caddis, tricos, sallies all made an appearance. The trout seemed to be more focused on the small stuff though. A good old size 22 black zebra midge accounted for most of our fish. Most of our hook ups came in the faster riffles or around structure. From mid morning on we switched to dries and a size 12 parachute adams, size 18 pmd cripple and size 20 black ant accounted for several great fish and lots of rises. The black ants can be hard to see so pair them with a more visible dry. If a trout comes up within two feet of the visible dry, set the hook as he probably ate the ant! Good luck out there!
