The upper stretches of the South Platte river basin can be excellent places to explore and escape some crowds during late summer and early fall. They are all worth checking out. We saw a few larger fish but they seem to be tricky this time of year especially with lower flows. We caught a good amount of smaller and mid range sized fish throughout the day but never saw anything over 12". It was still a great time with great scenery and should only get better from here on out. We could not get fish to rise much with low flows, so our successes came from small natural midges, Zebra Midges, Perdigons and Jig frenchies. Try your best to sneak up on holes with a low profile and you may be able to tie into a few fish pushing 16-18" in this area. There is only one way to find out, get out and try it for yourself!
