TRIP SUMMARY

After a good bump in flows, the Blue is fishing really well right now. Fish are starting to spread out, if the air temps get above freezing, and there is a good amount of food flowing through town for them. A long, light leader is still needed (9ft 5x) and light tippet (5-6x) but if you're patient and get some good clean drifts, you'll put fish in the net. We fooled most of our trout on a simple egg pattern and a few went after size 20 midge emergers (Top Secret, Manhattan Midge) especially on the swing at the end of the drift. Cover lots of ground, mostly to keep the feet warm, and make adjustments to your weight and depth before you change flies and you'll put fish in the net.
