Fun day fishing the Colorado over near Parshall! Cold overnight temps, low flows, and larger than normal crowds made for some tough fishing but we still managed to get it done out there. Two and three fly nymph rigs in deep runs and 5X fluorocarbon was the recipe for success. Black Zebra Midges (20) and Rainbow Warriors (20) caught fish periodically throughout the day. Most productive fly of the day however was a dead drifted Olive Leech— the fish could not resist it. It wasn’t that they wanted to eat it, they HAD to eat it! Remember, let it swing out and hang for a second before recasting. We had multiple takes on the swinging leech at the end of a drift. Fall fishing on the Colorado should continue to be great!
