TRIP SUMMARY

Fished from 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM which was the warmer part of the day. Water was a bit colder due to fresh snow melt from the snow storm we had gotten the day before. Saw a good midge hatch, but bugs were a bit smaller than they have been lately. I’ve been seeing midges in that section of river as big as size #18-#20, but on our trip I think due to the cooler water temps we were seeing smaller midges size #22-#24. Hot flies for us were brown worms, light orange eggs, juju midges black and olive size #22-#24, top secret midge #22-#24 and brown foam back emerger a size #22-#24. Fishing was decent fish were a little slower to move for flies, did not see much surface action, but there was a decent amount of bugs on the water.
