TRIP SUMMARY

After a long stretch of low flows, we had an epic day on the Dream Stream. With the big bump in flows, large attractors were dynamite for us. Early on in the day we led with a big leech and trailed large midge pupa and emergers (Rojo midge, manhattan midge, top secret) and got some super fun hook ups, including on smaller flashy streamers like a Lil' Kim. Once the day heated up, we targeted some faster runs with baetis (juju baetis, purple and green, mercury baetis emerger, Barr's flashback) and had some exciting takes. adjust your weight to get those flies riding higher in the water column. When the "W" is cranking you wont have many dry fly opportunities but trout will still focus in the upper to mid water column. Drop the weight to something light or lead with a smaller weighted fly to keep those emergers in that upper column or throw a dry dropper and you'll have some fun takes. Get out and enjoy this river with these healthier flows. Make sure to cover lots of ground and don't get stuck in one spot all day. There's lots of fish and each spot could be holding a tank!
