Had a really good day with some first time fly fishers. Trout were really keying in on midges all morning. Desert Storm midge, zebra midge and $3 dips kept the guys hooked up nearly all morning. Adjusting our weight for each piece of water we fished was critical. Several times coming to a new piece of water that should of held fish we experienced no takes but after adding another split shot hooked fish on the very next cast. If you are fishing water that looks fishy, try adding more weight before changing flies. Chances are you aren’t getting down to the fish quick enough. Although we saw tons of midges hatching and in the surface, we didn’t see many fish rising to them. All in all, a fantastic morning with non stop action. Good luck out there!
