The flows coming out of the Montgomery Res. for the Middle Fork of the South Platte river near Alma were just about perfect today. The beaver dams are overflowing and the banks have nice cuts holding fish. Mid morning the fishing turned on allowing us to catch most of our fish on a single yellow parachute madam x dry fly. As the fishing slowed we switched over to dry droppers finding success with #20 black zebra midges as well as #18 green rainbow warriors. This is a great location to get your brook trout fix!
Midges through the morning, yellow sallys towards late morning
