This is the first Ross reel I have purchased. The construction and finish exceeded my expectations and the gearing and drag work exceptionally and better than my other reels. I am very happy with this purchase!!

You definitely pay for quality with this reel. Its not bulky and heavy nor is it annoyingly loud. One thing to look out for is the plasic drag clicker inside. It wears out making the reel quieter than is already is but if you like a smooth and quiet reel, dont worry about it. Ive owned an Animas for a few years now and I havent had any serious issues with it.

Stopped in the shop this past summer and picked up this reel. It’s a beautiful piece of equipment and very smooth to reel. The guys were very helpful as always and I’m very happy with my purchase so far.

This reel is so nice. It is extremely good looking on your fly rod and gives me confidence when I’m casting and playing fish. I would not change it out for any other reel I love it so much. The guys in Trouts did a great job helping me pick it out as well and gave me advice on what weight to get as well that would match up with the fish I was going after. Overall 10/10 experience and 10/10 reel

Paired the new Ross Animas with my Sage 6-weight for a recent trip to the White River. Cast streamers on the first day with a sink tip, and the reel worked perfectly. Next day, I used the same gear to fish a double nymph rig; again, the Animas worked perfectly. Reel has a great drag, smooth and easy to set, nice click sound, and is absolutely beautiful in the platinum finish. The Colorado flag, mountain, and stream etched into the side is a nice touch. Also, totally made in the USA.
