Introducing the new Centric series fly rods.

Scott put the feel in fast action rods. Now we’re taking it to the next level.
Cutting edge Centric series fly rods deliver new levels of stability, recovery speed, and range, while giving anglers tons of feedback through the easy flexing tip sections and highly transmissive blanks.

These are the most efficient rods Scott has ever created. High line speed, flat, stable loops are easily generated at any distance with minimal effort from the caster. Apparent to anglers of any skill level, these rods feel very light in the hand, are insanely accurate, and are simply a joy to fish at any distance.
Ease of roll casts and mends is next level. The ability to control loop shape and line speed at any distance give anglers wide ranging versatility.

Centric rods combine new tapers and multi-modulus lay ups with a new resin system to increase fiber density and reduce weight, and they feature our new generation ARC reinforcement for greater stability along multiple axes. New custom rolling equipment allows us to control fiber placement and density
with new levels of precision. And just to top it all off, we designed new standard-setting componentry for Centric rods that redefine functionality, durability, and beauty.

Scott Centric rods are fit with Flor grade cork, new titanium stripping guides with super slick zirconia inserts, new low glare Snakebrand Universal snake guides, and a new fully milled reel seat featuring speed threads, easy grip knurling, self-indexing hoods, micarta inserts, a special Delrin lock washer, and
type 3 flat black hard coat.

Centric rods retail for $945 and are available in models ranging from 8.5’ to 10.0,’ in line weights 4 to 7. All Centric rods are 4 pieces and come in an embroidered cloth bag and premium aluminum rod tube. Centric rods are handcrafted in the USA from the finest materials.

Features

  • Carbon Link: Centric rods combine new precision construction techniques with our innovative new resin system to bond carbon fibers in a very dense matrix. The result? An exponentially lighter, more efficient rod that reduces casting fatigue and effort, while improving accuracy and versatility performance. So, whether it’s long bank shots with a dry, or short roll casts on your favorite nymph run, Centric rods bring together light weight, fast recovery and feel for unbridled fishing Nirvana.
  • Arc 2: Scott introduced the world to ultra-light weight unidirectional carbon fiber reinforcements over 15 years ago. Our Advanced Reinforced Carbon (ARC) adds directional stability and hoop strength while minimizing additional weight. Our new generation ARC is over 35% lighter and sets a new first in ultra-light multi-ply blank construction. The result is even more torsional stability with substantially lighter weight. This helps your rod track better for greater loop control and pin point accuracy.
  • ReAct: ReAct technology combines our X-Core design with a new complex materials and taper system to create a break-through in fast action rod design. Distance, control and accuracy are compromised by waves that vibrate in the rod, even after the cast has been made. Simply making the rod stiffer to stop these vibrations kills feel. ReAct counteracts energy sapping vibrations by speeding the recovery of the blank without the need to stiffen the rod with more material. This puts the feel in fast. And that’s a really good thing.
  • X-Core: Enhanced feel, incredible stability and unequalled performance. X-Core combines the industry’s leading composite technologies with cutting edge design. Diameter is proportional to stiffness and strength, and X-Core, or Expanded Core, technology delivers blanks that transmit feel and maintain stability better than any other design approach. We use fast taper mandrels with low-mass, thin-walled blanks and proprietary ARC reinforcement to create rods that have stiffness with feel, and stability with sensitivity. This design helps the rod come alive in your hands. It’s a superior approach to the slow taper, thick walled designs that deliver stiffness at the expense of feel.
  • Multi-Modulus: Fine-tuned flex and recovery. Scott pioneered the use of multi modulus fiber lay ups in blank design. By varying the fiber tensile modulus along the length of the rod, we’re able to precisely control the stiffness and recovery speed of our blanks. The result is a rod that loads and unloads more smoothly.
  • Fiberfuse Resin: Our all new FiberFuse enhanced resin system uses new chemistry to create bonds between each graphite fiber that are over 20% stronger than conventional epoxy resins.
  • Natural Finish: Walk down a rod rack at your local fly shop and you'll notice something different about Scott rods. Like everything we do, the Scott Natural Finish is all about making your rod lighter, more durable, and better performing. Most other rods on the shelf are run through a belt sander, tearing away the outside power fibers of the blank and introducing variance. Inadvertent flatspotting during the sanding process will weaken a blank, and blanks are designed with a margin of error to accommodate for oversanding. After the blank is sanded, a glossy paint is applied to add shelf appeal. Natural finish blanks aren't subjected to the rip through the sanding belt, nor are they covered with heavy paint to add pop in your fly shop. We're firm believers in the natural beauty of graphite. A natural finish blank is built to exacting tolerances. Scott's advanced resin systems permeate the blank, leaving a durable finish that will stand up to years of abuse.
  • Mil-Spec III: Another first, brought to you by Scott. Most reelseats are made with a glossy, thin, and easily marred type 2 anodize. Scratches in type 2 anodize expose the aluminum underneath, leading to worn finishes and potential for corrosion. Our Mil-Spec III anodize penetrates the surface of the aluminum, creating the hardest, most durable, and most corrosion resistant finish available. Mil-Spec III prevents galvanic reactions with dissimilar metals and is resistant to temperatures above 900 degrees fahrenheit.

Unmatched ability, incredible quality

First off, it’s a Scott. The mark of craftsmanship and attention to detail doesn’t fall short upon the new Centric. The aesthetics of the black real seat, micarta inserts and red details throughout make this an incredible piece that stands out amongst the crowd. (Or not, depending!) the casting is effortless. Line loads well for powerful forward casts with great precision. Mending is easy and can be done with delicate touch. I love my centric and you will to.

Scott 1004-4

This is a fantastic trout rod. Incredibly lite and surprisingly sensitive. I fished with 7x tippet and had no problem landing trout. It is impressive considering it is a fast action rod. It also works well over-head casting and I never felt like I was casting a 10' rod. If you are considering a 10' 4 wt trout rod, I would encourage you to consider the centric. You wont be disappointed.

A finely crafted, versatile fishing tool

I got the 9’6″ 5wt 4-piece with the fighting butt (955-4). I rarely review anything, but I am compelled to after fishing this amazing rod all summer.

My reasoning for purchasing this rod was two fold. I already have plenty of nice 9' 5 weights with no FB and wanted something a little different, and I wanted some extra length to make casting from the sitting position in a kayak easier. From a kayak, that extra length definitely helps to not smack the water behind you when you're tired from rowing all day and get sloppy with your cast. This rod exhibits amazing feel for casting up close and plenty of power for those long shots. Casting this rod at long distances (>60 ft) feels like an effortless extension of my body. Mending is almost too easy. It casts a tiny dry fly with incredible precision, and almost as gently as a 4-wt. If you want to swap out a #22 gnat for an indicator and flop some tungsten, it doesn't even blink. If you're like me and prefer tight-lining, the extra length helps. You can cast delicate mayflies, a fat hopper-dropper, or a small streamer accurately enough to land behind that tiny rock. It also fights strong fish incredibly well for a 5wt.

If you're looking for a non-traditional, fast-action 5wt, have an open mind and try this one. I am sure the 9' 5wt is equally amazing. Now my favorite 6wt is in danger of only being used when heavy streamers are on the menu, or when it's extra windy, because I now reach for this one as my do-all rod!

Best Rod in the Quiver

This rod is an absolute power house! The 9ft 5wt is a true do it all, daily driver that can handle just about ever situation thrown at it. Streamers, heavy nymph rigs, dry flies, all cast effortlessly with pin point accuracy. Its durable, mends like a dream, and best of all is made local in CO! To top it off it is one bad ass looking rod from the classic Scott grey blank, to the touches of red this is the best rod I've owned in 20+ years on the water no to mention it comes with a Scott lifetime warranty so it is truly meant to last forever. Cant recommend this product enough.

Scott Centric - Fantastic Streamer Rod!

Got the Centric 7 wt as a Christmas gift from my wife as she will be using my Radian 7 wt. Used it this week and this rod casts articulated streamers with no effort. Combined with how light this rod is and I spent all day casting streamers without any effort. Comparing my Radian 7 wt to the Centric, both are light rods and great for streamers, but in the short time using the Centric, the Centric seems to have a little more backbone when it comes to fighting trout in rivers, which helps getting them to the net quicker.
