Q&A

Wader Care

  • SIMMS waders are all built from a durable breathable fabric. Whether that is GORE-TEX® or Toray®, the care that should be taken is the same.
  • Waders should be dried after each use, both inside and out. Simms understands that certain situations do not allow for time to fully dry between uses. It is the expectation that this circumstance will contribute to a potential shorter lifespan.
  • Breathable fabrics are porous in nature and can collect dirt, oils from the skin and other environmental substances. Regular cleaning of waders is a key contributor to their lifespan.
  • Depending on the amount of days used, annual, bi-annual or tri-annual washing is recommended.
  • Exposure to salt water or salt air requires special care: The waders must be rinsed thoroughly with fresh water and dried after each use.

Warranty & Repairs:

If your SIMMS product fails due to a defect in workmanship or materials, SIMMS will repair or replace your gear and get you back on the water as soon as possible. If your SIMMS product fails due to excessive wear, accidents involving barbed wire or campfires, or the natural breakdown of materials over extended time, SIMMS will make every effort to repair your gear for a reasonable fee.

Not so sure

I’m not so sure these have a value of $600.00. I have an old version of simms that are gortex. That is what I was specifically looking for was the gortex. I use those waders for winter as I can get 3-4 layers on the bottom and a few on top with my jackets. They have a small leak and have been needing to upgrade before this winter. Well, it’s disappointing that simms is not carrying the xxl full any longer and very few shops have the xxl. I already have a booty and with all my layers need some room. So this shop had one last pair and I pulled the trigger. I tried them on.. they will work but not sure how many layers can go on. The gortex is not nearly as thick as my other simms. That’s why I only wear in winter as too warm for summer. But I realize technology is changing and improving so I hope these live up to the price and hype once I get them out. I like the zippered pockets as that is not on the older version. I don’t like the straps as they are difficult to adjust and how to maneuver through the back. I like there is a higher and lower belt loop. The old version loop is so low it’s not realistic to use. I can get a belt in the loop and it’s at the right spot. The old version is a light grey and wasn’t sure of the new color but I do like the darker grey. On a sunny bluebird day not sure how they will blend in but visually I like it.
The bottom that goes over your boots is cheap comparatively to the old version. I like I could hook them over my boots. Again another layer for my boots and feet. These have a cheap stitching at the bottom that I know I will struggle with pulling over my boots. All in all, I was excited and now not so much. I would have tried the less expensive waders but I wanted the gortex. The new technology on the other waders may be comparable and with a zipper on the side. Hopefully once I get them on the water I will be reassured of my purchase. I would try the others before the G3.
