Simms G3 Guide Boot - Vibram
I purchased the Simms G3 Guide Boot several months ago to fish here in Arkansas and I could not be happier with the product. The boots are durable and the quality surpasses any wading boot that I've owned. Wading boots that I've purchased in the past have been useless after a season or two, but these boots have held up extremely well. I was also surprised by the level or comfort! If I'm wading through a stream, or walking back to my vehicle after a day on the river, these boots give me the comfort and support that I have been looking for. They are also incredibly easy to slip on and off. I highly recommend this product.
I don't know why I waited so long to invest in a really good pair of boots. I waited wayyyy too long. I used to think, I'm just standing in the river, what does it matter? It matters. A lot. These will get you fishing longer. They will get you exploring further. I only have three complaints: (1) they size small - definitely go one size up; (2) the traction could be better - I now carry a wading pole (which I should have done for a long time); and (3) you have to take care of them (don't put them away wet). These are small though. Even the traction issue is not as big of a deal as you'd think. What I lose in grip, I make up for in multiples in comfort. And if there is one thing, I've learned it's don't buy cheap stuff and take care of it. I hate cheap stuff. These boots are not cheap. They are good. Put them upside down on the backporch when you are done for the afternoon for a couple of hours. You take care of them and they will take care of you.
These boots are great and will do as good a job on the hike in as they will in the water. The Vibram sole is a huge improvement on previous rubber soled boots I've owned, and they don't pick up bits or snow like a pair of felt soles. Don't be afraid to put these babies through their paces as they have held up reliably through some heavy use.
These boots are solid and comfortable. Another fine Simms product. However, for $50 more I'd recommend getting Simms' G4 Pro Wading Boots.
