The Thingamabobber is a new design in strike indicators from WestWater Products. Its design was inspired by western guides who use small balloons as strike indicators for their buoyancy and sensitivity. Already a favorite among guides who have tried it, the Thingamabobber combines all of the best strike indicator elements in one simple design. It is buoyant, easy to cast, ultra sensitive, durable, and affordable.
This is my go to strike indicator because its easy to setup and move around on the the line. However it causes a kink in the line and occasionally will get tangled with a knot. But since using it I have caught a ton more trout than without one.
I'm not a big fan of these indicators. I was a devoted user for awhile, but had trouble keeping the indicator in the same spot. Plus, I'm not thrilled about the crimp in my leader. It definitely works for what it's supposed to and in a pinch I still carry a handful in my bag. But I've made the switch to airlocks and tear drops and I don't regret it one bit.
these work as they are supposed to. i have never had one of these break and they are infinitely reusable. only knock is not due to the product itself, but do to the fishing pressure. sometimes i feel that using a less conspicuous indicator scares less fish. on the other hand i have seen trout try to swallow this thing.
