I just hit the water for the first time with my new Clearwater 9' 6 wt . I really love everything about the rod-great action, a real joy to cast and fish with.
The Clearwater rod is an amazing entry level setup. I typically fish 20-25 days per year and the durability is top notch. It has helped me progress as an angler and I would highly recommend it to any entry level angler. It also comes with a 25-year warranty! Super happy with the performance!
I have the 8'6" 5wt rod and absolutely love it. I may not get the distance and accuracy of a 9ft, but I really don't notice it. This rod has a soft enough feel that I feel comfortable fishing smaller creeks with it, but it can also has a backbone that can handle anything the South Platte can throw at it. I have no problem feeling the rod load on my back casts and it is capable of punching through some amount of wind/breeze. This rod is an amazing option for anyone not looking break the bank, but also have a jack-of-all-trades kind of rod.
Huge fan of my 8'6" 4wt Clearwater. I was away from Trouts on a fishing trip and when I was traveling my reel got dented and warped. I couldn't bring it back to Trouts obviously so I found a local Orvis shop and they swapped it out no questions asked. Great brand, great rod, great warranty.
I have Borge the 9ft 5wt and 6wt great casting rods for under $300! Great warranty through orvis as well. Makes for good back up rods or if you want to explore new styles of fly fishing.
