Cheesman Reservoir at Full Pool

Big fly season is here on the South Platte!

Mid-day on Sunday, Cheesman Reservoir hit full pool. With inflows into the reservoir of approximately 260 cfs, we will see an increase in flows below the reservoir, as water spills over the dam. At the time of this blog, flows on the South Platte below Cheesman Reservoir increased from 100 cfs to 239 cfs over the last 24 hours. The increase has been relatively consistent. What does that mean for you? Fishing in the Canyon and around Deckers should continue to produce, however, instead of smaller bugs and lighter tippet, consider fishing bigger leeches, worms, scuds, and stoneflies. It's a great time of year to catch normally picky on heavier tippet and bigger flies. Stay tuned to our updated Fishing Reports and we'll see you out there!
