Trouts Guide Service Report: Granby Ranch

It's been a dry fly paradise on the Fraser River!

Even though we're just a few day shy of August, it's finally starting to feel like Summer out there in my opinion. Sure we've been busy these past few months with guide trips, however the recent string of weeks that didn't require a rain jacket paired with the more 'normal' flows we're seeing (most places that is) is really putting that Summer feeling in the air with considerable consistency. No longer are waders a requirement if wet wading is your style, and that low angled, late afternoon sun while caddis bounce in the bushes is about as textbook as it gets for this time of year. And then there's the bugs. A few of us spent the past few days up at the Granby Ranch, one of our Exclusive Properties, and it has been an absolute blast. The river is alive with bug life and throughout the day we're finding fish keying in on PMD's, Caddis, Yellow Sallies, Hoppers, and even BWO's at times. As you'd expect, some days are seeing more prolific hatches than others but there has always been enough flying food around to make the dry fly bite a start to finish option for those anxious to ditch the bobber. Flows are great and I expect the fishing to remain strong through the Fall. Bring it on.

Give us a call or swing by the shop to book your own Guided Fly Fishing Trip today! Interested in fishing the Granby Ranch? Don't delay! This property is managed to offer anglers a quality experience day in and day out and as such, space can be limited! As a reminder, this meandering freestone fishery has received absolutely zero stream improvement work and the fish are completely wild. We can't think of a better place to experience a true Western fly fishing experience!
