Trouts Guide Service Report: Rowdy Trout Ranch

The trout are staying rowdy at the Rowdy!

I had the pleasure of spending the day with the Cribari father/son duo at the Rowdy Trout Ranch, one of our Exclusive Properties.  Brian- the son- used to be a guide for a number of years out in the Gunnison Valley and his skills from these days haven't faded a bit. After rigging up a Stonefly and San Juan Worm nymph rig, Brian quickly got several fish in the net out of the first run we fished. Brian's dad Dennis was also quite the accomplished angler, and enjoys frequenting the area stillwaters. This description can also be translated into the fact that he hadn't trout fished in a river in nearly 2 decades! Talk about motivation on my end to get a fish on the end of his line! As some of you may know, the Rowdy Trout Ranch also has 4 ponds on the property full of some very large trout and after putting a proper spanking on the trout in the river, Brian went to working the ponds. Dennis and I chose to stay down on the river but a bent fly rod could constantly be seen in the back ground due to Brian's proficency with a slowly stripped Wooly Bugger. After breaking for lunch, we experienced a slight lull in the action and decided to downsize our rigs to some size 18 beadhead nymphs. A Rainbow Warrior proved to be the afternoon fly du jour and Dennis was quickly back to putting fish in the net.

Interested in fishing the Rowdy Trout Ranch yourself? Don't delay- we only have ONE available day left to fill our alloted spots in June. This river is highly managed to ensure a quality experience and will only be fished 6 times during the month of June! June 18th is still up for grabs!
