We consider the lower Gunnison to be everything from the Smith Fork to Austin Bridge. This river is best fished from a boat, however some wade fishing does exist.
Winter/Spring: Midges, Mayflies
Summer: Mayflies, Caddis, Midges, Terrestrials, Stoneflies, Streamers
Fall: Mayflies, Caddis, Terrestrials, Streamers
The Gunnison can be fishd year round, however winter can get pretty tough at times. Spring can offer some good Baetis and Caddis action. Once runoff subsides, the river comes alive with prolific hatches mayflies, caddis and stoneflies. Streamer fishing is good throughout the year as well.
Pleasure Park offers the best public access and is east of Delta on Hwy 92.
