As anglers, we are constantly making adjustments to take advantage of the conditions we find on the water. The Flathead Sling combines both agility, and ease of use in one comfortable system to give you unmatched access to your gear when you need it most. The sling’s ambidextrous design allows the pack to be carried on either shoulder with a quick flip of the strap. Its large clamshell opening and moveable interior dividers offer tremendous carrying capacity and an organized work station. So, the next time you’re swinging streamers and turn the corner to find rising fish, you won’t have an excuse.
I bought this upgrading from an old backpack. It’s only been out on the water three times with me so far but I have had no issues. Compact and still holds plenty and comfortable
It will be the last fishing bag I will b up for a long time or until i break and or lose it. When i first tried it on i was very impressed by the comfortability and the ergonomic design that went into it. I look forward to buying my first fly fishing combo and getting out on the water with my new pack and getting the fullest of my gear. Thank you for carrying fishpond bags and gear, the bag came in mint condition and i cannot express how happy i was to receive this product so quickly and with the magazine with fishing information, along with 2 stickers which I’ve used already, thank you very much Trout Fly Fishing company, i will use your services again someday soon, hopefully with my fly fishing rod and reel.
I'm a gear junkie. I must have 10 packs. This is my go-to all purpose pack. If you are looking for one sling that will do anything, this is it. The main compartment is really easy to get in and out of. But it's sneaky with its attachments and hidden spots. I can hang anything from my tippet, to my forceps, to my net in endless ways. It really, really helps when you are spending a long day on the water.
This year I've honestly used all the popular sling packs and nothing compares in comfort and spaciousness of the Flathead Sling. I think the other sling packs are ergonomically designed to the point where they look good however any available space is wasted because of the design. The Fishpond sling is a rectangle box - so to speak. Nothing ergo about it yet it holds plenty of gear and just as lightweight (if not lighter) than most of its competition. Great features abound on this sling pack such as the magnetic front pocket with plenty of space, it has an abundant amount of attachment points all around the bag as well as on the front of the strap to hold a second pair of nippers and hemostats. The top opens into a nice little workstation and easy access to grab one of your fly boxes or lunch. Includes two internal separators to organize the inside as well as three separate pockets to store indicators, weights, wallet, phone and car keys, etc. Two water bottle holders are located on each end that can hold a water bottle while the other used to stuff a light rain jacket. The net holder is a great feature as it sits about an inch between the pack and your upper torso allowing a fair amount of air circulation - works well in hot weather. The net sleeve is perfect for a Nomad Mid-Length of Emerger net. Looking for a Sling pack? Get this one. You won't be sorry.
I got the flathead sling this past summer and overall it's been great! It's super comfortable to wear even when fishing for hours on end. There are multiple attachment points for other accessories and plenty of spots to store all of your gear. The only complaint I would have is that it is a bit tricky at times to reach my net when it is in the holster of the pack. Other than that, this pack is perfect for anyone looking to upgrade!
