We have tried a lot of dip floatants and love what they do to flies. What we don't love is how they smell, how flammable they are, and how inconsistent they are with our priority to make products that are safe for fish and fisheries. Fly Dip is proof that anglers shouldn't have to choose between a green product and a great product. It is compatible with all flies (including CDC), dries quickly, and can take even soggy flies and bring them back to life. It isn't overstating things to say that this floatant is a "game-changer".
This stuff is a must have if you'll be throwing dries all day. I go up to the Snake in Idaho for the Salmonfly hatch and I would hate life if it wasn't for this silly powder. Make sure to blow the excess water off your fly before you dunk it in and you're right back floating high.
This stuff works well - it'll float your fly for a reasonable time and after you dry the fly off a bit, it'll have it floating again. But it dries very very white. Most of these liquid floatants dry white to some extent, but this stuff turns your fly white. If you're using a light colored fly, then it's not a big deal. But if you're using a dark fly... now it's mostly white.
