When I first saw this rod i had my couch but then I ordered it and let me just tell you this is amazing right it is so light, ever since your hands perfectly and paired with rio gold this is the rod you want if you don't want to spend 700-900 of a nice rod
I was first drawn to the Sonic because of it’s incredible craftsmanship and aesthetics. It’s a real work of art and you cannot help but single it out amongst a wall full of high dollar fly rods. After testing it at the fly shop I knew this was the rod for me. I bought the Sage Sonic 9’ 6wt as a dedicated streamer rod, but on my first trip I was blown away by the versatility of this rod. From big streamers to a size 20 Parachute Adams, this rod does it all. I have since retired my go to 5wt used specifically to fish the waters of the Little Red River in Northern Arkansas, because of it’s versatility. It feels light in the hand and loads up like no other rod I have ever owned. When distance is needed, this rod excels and delivers. The Sonic’s only shortcomings comes at distances less than 30 feet; the feel is just not there. However, the rod comes alive at 40’ and beyond and is a real joy to cast. When conditions require a tool that is both powerful and versatile, the Sage Sonic delivers it in spades.
I have been looking for a new fly rod for what seemed like years, and never seemed to what I was looking for. Until the Sonic was released and took it for a test drive and new this what I have been looking for. It has a great action, cast great and is very forgiving on the water. If you are looking for a good all purpose rod and won't break the bank, give the Sonic a try.
I was in the shop a bit back and was talking with Jack about getting a new rod. He suggested the Sonic and I do not regret it one bit. A very powerful rod and for the value you get from it you could easily spend hundreds of dollars more for a less competent fly rod. Thanks, Jack.
I absolutely love this rod! I bought the 9ft 5wt a few months ago, after a trip to Deckers. It has quickly become my go-to rod. Not only is it lightweight and durable, but the Juniper green color is awesome. This rod allows for a fun fight with even the smallest trout, but also has the backbone to take on the largest ones fighting up stream. I would recommend this for anyone looking to get a great mid-priced all around rod.
