South Platte River Clean Up: April 26th

Ivan Orsic / Apr 23, 2014

Join our pals at Denver Trout Unlimited as they clean up the South Platte River here in Denver this Saturday April 26th at 7:00am. Bring your boots, waders, and a sturdy pair of work gloves. They will be cleaning up trash and debris both from the river bank and from the river bottom where it is possible. Here’s the DTU game plan for Saturday morning:

“Saturday morning, April 26th, 7:00 a.m. at Johnson-Habitat Park. - Come on out with your waders and help clean-up in-stream through Johnson-Habitat Park starting at 7:00AM. We’ve always been the only group to actually make contact with the Denver South Platte during these sweeps. Then wade into the ground breaking ceremony for the River Vision Implementation Plan.” – Denver Trout Unlimited

After the River Sweep there is a Ground Breaking Ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Johnson-Habitat Park as well. You will be able to hear more about the $24.5 Million of environmental, recreational and water quality improvements to the South Platte River corridor in Denver. It is the first such project however that has as a key focus “restoring aquatic and riparian habitat” thanks in large part to Denver Trout Unlimited.

For more on both of these event you can visit Denver Trout Unlimited online. If you want to know more about fly fishing on the Denver South Platte River you can CLICK HERE for our three part series.
