Featured Trouts Guide Report of the Week - 9/23 Edition

Ivan Orsic / Sep 23, 2019

We're proud to bring a new weekly feature to the blog this season. Every week, we'll bring you a guided trip report fresh off of the water from one of our professional Fly Fishing Guides. Each week, we will feature a report that will detail the location, timing, hatch information, fly selection, and rigging. For this week's feature, here's a report from Trouts Denver Guide Tucker Bamford.

LOCATION: South Platte River near Deckers
GUIDE:
Tucker Bamford
LENGTH OF TRIP:
Half-Day Walk/Wade
FLOWS:
214 cfs

There was a decent Baetis hatch today that kept a few fish on the surface all afternoon. We got 4-5 strikes on dries but couldn’t seal the deal. We got a few on nymphs but we had to work for them. There were lots of bugs around but mostly tiny stuff. We saw a few Miller moths.

Best Flies
San Juan Worm - Tan - Size 16
Mercury RS2 - Gray - Size 20
Rust Overbite - Size 22
Mercury Black Beauty - Size 22
