For many anglers, the traditional season begins after spring runoff (which typically begins in May and ends in June). For those anglers, "spring" is marked by high flows and cold temps. But, for us at Trouts, there is a prime time that exists before spring runoff. We call it "The Fifth Season."
A couple of years ago, we sat down with Regional Store Manager - Tanner Smith - to talk about what the Fifth Season means to him. Let's take a trip down memory lane and embrace the fact that many of our area freestones like the Colorado, Eagle, and the Arkansas are starting the thaw out and the aquatic insect life is responding in kind. March and April are some of the more productive and entertaining months to be on the water.
