The Head Guide for RIGS Fly Shop in Ridgway, Colorado, Matt started his guiding career on the technical tailwater of the Uncomphagre River and in the depths of the Gunnison Gorge back in 2004. In 2011, Matt focused his attention on the habits of the largest fish in Pa-Co-Chu-Puk on the Uncomphagre River. This forced him to push the limits of what he knew about fishing.

Matt still guides in the Gunnison Gorge, but when he is not down there he is stalking Paco’s amazing fish with his clients. Matt learned early on that to become a great guide that "You have to get people into fish. But, you also have to become a good coach and teacher." One of the things that he tries to instill upon his clients is to push themselves to become better and to consistently be open to learning new thing about the sport of fly fishing. Matt is a Signature Fly Designer for Umpqua Feather Merchants and an Ambassador for SAGE, SIMMS, and Scientific Anglers. Matt knows his way around big fish.
