TRIP SUMMARY

Lake Dillon is full and is spilling over the top into the Blue! With the amount of snowpack we've still got holding on up high and the massive amounts of precipitation we've been receiving around the state, reservoirs are full and rivers are cranking! That doesn't mean you can't catch fish though, the key is to just fish the right places. In higher flows it's best to rope up your tippet. Nymph rigs with 3X and 4X have been the name of the game. Use plenty of weight to get your rig down and deep. Spots that you usually fish have much more water than they usually do- make sure your bugs are bouncing off the bottom occasionally. Any piece of water that is softer and slower than the main current with some type of structure is likely holding fish. If you find one, you'll likely find a few. Leeches, eggs, and worms have been the ticket. Try a Rainbow Warrior (18) or a Foamback Emerger (20).
