TRIP SUMMARY

Low flows has Abell Ranch fishing pretty tough. However we were able to find quite a few fish in the deeper pools and riffles. Saw some good blue wing olive hatches throughout the morning and the fish were definitely keying in. Size 24 olive wd40’s fished mid column accounted for several nice fish. We also caught fish deep with 24 red midge larvae. After lunch we were able to cast dries to some rising fish. The wind made this challenging but we were able to finally get a good drift and fool a nice rainbow on a size 22 sparkle dun. To end the day we had good cloud cover and threw some streamers. We tied on some size 8 thin mints and stripped them fast through the top of several runs. We were rewarded with several ferocious grabs and nice rainbows. All in all, tough conditions but still managed to put a good number of fish in the net. Good luck out there!
