High sun, low and clear water, a stealthy approach, and some good casting! That was the recipe on this particular day and the fishing was great. We fished dry flies all morning and well into the afternoon. The progression has been pretty consistent here. Tricos early, PMD and BWO in the afternoons. The morning Trico spinner falls have been excellent. These typically very picky Deckers trouts become bug crazy. If you are in the correct area you will be amazed of the shear number of trout willing to rise to properly presented dry fly. We are sight fishing here constantly, and patience/timing is key. Make your shots count! the first hour of the Trico spinnerfall is the easiest fishing. After that initial event has been happening for a while the trout become less eager and have an unlimited amount of natural bugs to eat, making them pickier and pickier as the day progresses.
