We received a lot of precipitation all over the state of Colorado last week. The rivers have swelled and receded. This can really shuffle the deck for fishing and as far as I am concerned it is a good thing! While it poses a new set of challenges, (off color water and higher flows), it keeps the river temps in check and allows the fish a break from angling pressure. The water is clearing and dropping as we speak and most of the Middle Fork of the South Platte river basin will again be in prime shape by Monday or Tuesday. Fishing was best in the afternoon. Small black streamers (sz 8) and smaller hoppers (sz 14) did best for us.
