TRIP SUMMARY

Super cold start to the day so we looked for open pockets of sun to try and stay warm. The water is gin clear so there were ample opportunities for sight fishing. We were able to hook up on a few nice rainbows on a mysis shrimp and some small midge emerger patterns (Top Secret, $3 Dip) and even got a nice one in the net on a Griffith's Gnat during a hatch around 1130a-12p. Do your best to use just enough weight to get your flies into the target zone and limit the 'splash' when they hit the water. If you can get away with a larger lead fly (worm, egg, mysis, etc.) that helps you see your flies in the water, it will help you to see if you're getting a good presentation (correct depth, drag free). Make sure to bring plenty of hand warmers and don't forget to bring a towel to keep those hands dry and warm!
