TRIP SUMMARY

Another great day up on the Eagle with some great repeat clients! Weather was overcast most of the day with some bits of sunshine occasionally. There were a few gusts of wind but overall it stayed pretty calm and temperature was mid 40's consistently. Things started off with a bang landing our first fish after only a few casts. Fish didn't seem to be too picky today and ate a wide variety of bugs, but we managed to pull in most fish on small (size 20-26) wd-40s and black zebra midges. We pulled in a handful more on eggs, UV sallies, chocolate foam back emergers and worms. It seems like fish are finally starting to move around a bit more after a few cold months which is always a great sign. Most of our eats were in the deeper water columns however we saw plenty of rises throughout the day. We did try throwing out some dries, but with how productive the nymphing was we quickly switched back. It's getting good out there again so don't hesitate to get back on the water but keep some of your winter fishing techniques in the front of your mind.
