Another typical day on the Dream Stream; high winds, cold water, and quality fish! Flows dropped a bit this week and trout dropped back down deep into the slower runs and pools. The egg bite was still strong and we got some real aggressive takes drifting through those slower runs. With the high winds that are common in this stretch, we focused more on setting the drift up for success with a more downstream cast. Mending can always be a challenge when the gusts come through, so do your best to either reach cast, or focus more on a straight across river cast or cast downstream. A size 18 purple Rojo midge bailed us out when things got a little slow in the mid-afternoon and we were able to pick up a couple of quality trout. A clean drift is king on this river so do your best to not move your flies once they start to drift through the run or pool you're targeting and you'll likely have a fish eager to eat.
