TRIP SUMMARY

Lots of water, lots of people and lots of fish at Deckers Saturday. A chilly morning didn’t keep the crowds from getting out there early as Deckers was the busiest I’ve seen it in a while. Fishing was a little slow to start but soon picked up as the sun warmed the water a little. Worms, leeches and small baetis nymphs were the main producers for us. The high flows have the trout very close to the bank. We saw a huge trico hatch around 9:00 but it didn’t last long and there were too many people and to much water for the fish to get in a lane to rise. Pmd’s and small midges also made appearances throughout the day. The biggest factor was making sure we had plenty of weight to get our flies down quickly! TONS of tubers and rafters starting at 12:00 but it did not seem to affect the fishing. All in all a great day at Deckers, the high flows make it difficult to wade in places so please use caution! Good luck out there!
